Music is one of my great passions. So I’m taking a break from my usual routines of AI doom-prepping and trying to figure out how to make a difference for women and girls to share a JOYFUL musical experience happening on Long Island Saturday.

I’d love to see some of you there!

At St. John’s Episcopal Church, we are kicking off the 2026-27 Concerts by the Pond series with a FREE daytime community singing event and a ticketed evening concert.

Concerts by the Pond opens its new season on Saturday, October 3 with Nobuntu, the extraordinary vocal ensemble from Zimbabwe — and we’re making an entire afternoon and evening of it.

FREE WORKSHOP — 2:00–3:30 PM
Listen Even Closer: Singing with Nobuntu
Come sing with Nobuntu! This free, participatory workshop is open to high school students through adults. Come ready to listen, learn, sing, and experience African harmony and rhythm from the inside.

CONCERT — 7:30 PM
Then come back that evening as Nobuntu makes its Long Island debut — and their only Long Island performance. Four extraordinary voices. Rhythm, movement, harmony, and the incredible energy of hearing this music live in the intimate sanctuary at St. John’s.

This is going to be a joyful start to the Concerts by the Pond season, and you really do want to be in the room for it.
